V. Personal Response / Connections

• On the back of the box put the following information on a sheet of white paper:

                  - your personal response to the novel (why you                     chose it, what you liked or didn't like about it                     and why)

                  - connections between this novel and your life,                     or other books, or movies, etc.

(Don't forget to have a partner revise and edit your rough copy before you do a good copy. Ask for help if you need it.)

• genre
• setting
• theme
• a brief summary of the plot and the main characters

IV. Prepare a diorama

• Take an old cereal box, and cut along three sides to make a 'door-like' opening. (This will be the 'cover' of the book.)
• Cover the outside of the box with coloured contruction paper.
• On the front of the box print the title, author and publication information.
• Include an illustration
• Paint the inside of the box. Using paper cut-outs, plasticine or small figures, create a three-dimensional diorama of a scence from the novel.
