Celebration of Learning

"Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow."

How do I prepare for a Celebration of Learning?
There are a number of tasks you need to do in order to be fully prepared for a Celebration of Learning conference. It may appear to be a lot of work at first, but the benefits out weigh the effort and it is only a lot the first time you try this process.

  • Discuss this conferencing format with your administration.
  • Prepare a letter for parents about your plans for a Celebration of Learning.
  • Create stations for students to work through with their parents.
  • Arrange your classroom for activities to provide privacy for families
  • Construct an activity handout for the students to work through as they move throughout the stations.
  • Send parents an invitation with their conference time. Remember that you may schedule up to three families at the same time.
  • Prepare a parent survey for feedback.
  • Plan to meet with parents in a final station where questions or concerns may be brought up. A 5-10 minute time may be all that is needed.
  • Refreshments are nice since some Celebrations can last 30 - 60 minutes.
